If you’ve ever stood at a gelato cabinet while a child changes their mind four times, the mini scoop was made for you.
Three, six or nine small scoops, and a different flavour in every one. Nobody has to commit. Nobody has to choose between the chocolate and the bubblegum. And nobody ends up with a full-size scoop of something they’ve decided they don’t like after two bites.
A proper kids’ size
The Bambino is one mini scoop, $3.50. It’s a child’s portion that actually looks like one, rather than an adult serve handed to a five-year-old.
Practical things
Free underground parking at the Aqua Complex. You’re not circling with tired kids in the back.
We’re open till 9pm, every day we’re open, which is later than most dessert places round here.
The Broadwater is right there — flat, sheltered, with a foreshore path and parks. Gelato then a run around is a better order than the reverse.
Around eight non-dairy options daily, three vegan gelatos and five sorbets, which helps when one child in the group can’t have dairy.
Make an afternoon of it
The pelican feed at Charis Seafoods, on Marine Parade in Labrador, daily at 1.30pm. Free, and about a hundred wild pelicans turn up. The birds start gathering an hour beforehand.
The Broadwater foreshore, for a walk, a scoot or a playground.
A swim, at the Aquatic Centre or the Aqua Park out on the water.
